“I think he was hoping that he could turn into this. That he could become a political figure, and that there is something more in front of him. He couldn’t get people to take off the masks of the political. That was his ideal. It seemed like there was a lot to be said for him,” said Dr. Vigo.

Dr. Vigo says the mask was used to intimidate him. His sister says it was used with great success in the 1960s when a mob in New Orleans took the mask off. “They’re still standing by,” she said.

The mask has since been used in more than 30 anti-government and religious movements in the United States.

The masks are very real. They are made of plastic with metal handles attached to them that are painted bright red.

The mask is very visible to those who look over their shoulder, and for those who don’t notice it is very loud.

Vigo’s father says, “We have been living under his roof since he was 9 years old. We don’t have a lot of money. For about nine months he wasn’t home. He didn’t want to live with anybody. He never paid rent and we could not afford them. Then he disappeared. They say he made up something on the side.”
